A rotor pick in Lowville, NY about 40 minutes outside Watertown. AKA Tug Hill. There's a lot of snowmobile events held up there. They average around 10-15 feet of snow a year. Lots of lake effect up there. I haven't gone through these pics in a couple years. Its bringing back memories.

[QUOTE=--utaptout--;10107123]Here are some of a turbine that collapsed in Oregon, at the Biglow Canyon wind farm. There was actually a fatality in this one. 3 guys had been working on it. One was uptower. He was the one that was killed. Another guy had been inside the tower, and got injured, and one guy was on the ground, and wasn't hurt. You can google it and read the story about what happened.

**** man.... I didn't need to see that !!!

Lol, don't worry. Those are Siemens towers, not Vestas.

Thanks for an amazing thread. I've walked and scrambled up a number of 14ers in CO, but those pics from the tops of the towers freak me right out. They are beautiful to me, and look way better than the oil rigs from my childhood. Does the wind turbulence behind them reach a rider on the ground?

The wind turbulence should be a non-issue on the ground. The wind speeds would have to be so high at that point, that you wouldn't want to be on 2 wheels anyway.
