I no longer live someplace with a garage.My bikes stored in a dry garage but it's about 50mi away and I miss it.If you had to store your bike outdoors how would you do it? At first I was thinking of just buying an oversized tarp putting it over the bike and weighting it down.Then someone suggested a bike specific cover, someone else a tent.I have one friend who stores his bike in one of those plastic sheds but I don't think I can afford that.So, those of you who keep your bike outside how do you do it? I also have the option of re arranging what litttle furniture I have and keeping it in the room I rent but getting it in and out the doorway would be challenging.

I have a CycleShell and it is great. Though if you don't have to worry much about inclement weather where you are, you could probably get away with less.

 

Get some 2 x 4s, a few sheets of cheapo plywood, and build a shelter that you can roll the bike into.

 

I am on my second bike cover,always out since 2006, first one was HD, didn't last, got wet rotten on elastic by front tire, and faded, Got a Dowco Heavy duty weatherall cover, still bike gets wet a little, more concern about the sun damage. Don't recommend the fireproof side panels, they are not waterproof, just wait for bike to cool down before covering it.

What type of weather are you dealing with in Templeton? If your only dealing with rain for the most part I would think a good cover would work. I also agree a small shed could be built fairly cheap if a place to put it is available

I'm not living in Templeton anymore, that's where my X wife lives,I guess I need to update my profile, but Arroyo Grande's not too far away and the main thing is just moisture.I've kept my bikes indoors for years now and it really makes a huge difference as far as preserving the paint and chrome but I don't have that option at this time.
