Default another cam question

I was planning on doing some motor work to my 06 super glide. It was a kit and included bored jugs to 96" headwork done based on cam choice, new lifters, pistons, and everything needeD to install parts such as gaskets and cam change kit. The cam i was going to use was andrews 37.

I have been planning on doing this now for going on a year and a half and it looks like I just can't let go of the money for some reason. I am considering doing just cams to spend less money and get some added power. Which cams can yall recomend.

the bike is an 06 dyna with se air cleaner, screamin eagle slipons, pc III, andrews 30T
Bike has 47,000 miles.
I ride agressive when by my self, most of my riding is between 3000 - 4500 rpms, but regularly gets run up to 5000. rpms are rarly under 2500 unless i am in a neighborhood. I wiegh 165lbs.

I also take trips on this bike at least one or two a year. I also use it for sun. cruising with the wife. Her wieght is 100lbs.

The trips and sun. cruising are important , so I don't want to sacrifice that but I would like to get more power out of the bike. I truely do have two riding syles , but only plan on having one bike. I plan on keeping this bike for a long time also.
Bang for the buck is what I am after.

Take a look at this post ... I would be really surprised if you really spend as much time as you think at 3500-4500 RPM ...

Do you spend a lot of time running upwards of 90 MPH, or between 65 - 80 in 4th gear ....

I realize you have a 6-speed transmission ... but, RPM ranges are not going to be that far off ....

By the way, I've got the Andrews 37 and am very satisfied ... just did a 95" big bore and recommend it, as well ....

I've never heard of a kit that takes an 88" to 96". 95" and 97" but not 96" I agree with SUFOR that you spend less time at 3500-4500 than you think. With that said, I think an Andrews 54 would be the ticket for you or maybe a Woods 6

Yea I got alittle carried away with the rpms. Let me see if I can do a better job.
on the highway 75- 80 in sixth gear with 30T pully I am 3100- 3300 aproximatley. this is where I spent most of my miles. So Ya'll are correct, but when I am in the hill country by my self really enjoying the roads I tend to ride closer to 4000. Because this is where my bike feels the best and is the type of riding I enjoy the most.

I should of done a better job of discribing that, but you are right I don't cruise down the highway all day at 4500 and it is rare for me to be at 2000.

Way I look at it...you geared the bike down, you ride "spirited and solo" most of the time...go for the mid to upper end cam. You click down a gear or so and the power is where you like to ride your bike.


When your two up, again...click down a gear or two and roll away.


That TW555 is pretty sweet looking, consider that as well for a good one. I'm not one to be recommending cam choices though, only been doing lots of research. I suggest you call a builder and describe to them how you ride.....see what they say. Lots to consider!

I would do the 37, pop off the heads and thow a .030 head gasket in. You can get basic head work for around $300. Many porters are offering a basic setup now.

37's on my 03 lowrider and I'm very happy. Just had them installed with the cam chain tensioner up grade. Python staggered duals . Drilled the baffles.Big diff.

would the andrews 37's be a bad choice without the headwork and added compression the kit was going to give me. That way I can still do it just wouldn't have to pay for it all at once.
