I can't see the pics here at work. I think there may have been a recall having something to do with jiffy stands but I don't know year and model.

I am always paranoid about it. I always toe it to the end and then rock it forward to make sure I feel the lock.

The verticle tab on the jiffy stand typically sits/rests in a slot where it is now. The metal horinontal tab immediately to the rear of the tab seems worn, in the picture, and quite possible the slot is just gone/worn down.

Default got it to lock

Crawled under again and found a small chunk of asphalt in the groove that was preventing it from locking. Fortunately it wasn't worn, just partially blocked. It still doesn't sit flat but at least it locks in now.

Glad you got it worked out. The design may seem less than perfect but haven't had any problems. Just make sure to push it and hold it all the way forward with your toe before leaning the full weight of the bike on it.

Just a heads up, but one other thing which you may one day experience with the kick stand is a metal on metal 'clunk' when you kick it back. This is the result of the stand hitting the frame rather than the small rubber block on the frame which has shifted out of positioin. If it should happen to you, no big deal, just pull it back into position.
