Default Diamondback cable question? ( PICS ADDED)

PicsOK on the new cables I just got, there's a black covering on the bottom half of the cable I suppose it's like a heat shield. My question is if I take that black covering off is the braided cable under it? Or will I ruin the cable? Looks to me like it just a covering and I could take it off and have a full braided cable. Anyone know??

Thanks alot, Donnie

Edit: Thanks to you guys helping me out I got the job done in just 1 hour!! I didn't get to put my braided crossover line on because it wont be here till Monday [:@]

Here's some pics to share.

Pics of the throttle cables

Pics of the braided fuel line.

I think the cables are still to tight, what do you think by the pics?

But if I wanted a black cable I would have just got the stock ones.... That's just stupid to have that there, I could see if it was under the tank where it could get hot but 3/4 of the black part hangs out in the open for all to see and my other braided cables do not have the black covering showing out front to be seen easily!!

What's under the covering?? Someone must know?

I am not going to tell you to take any cable apart without seeing exactly what your talking about first.

It's got like zip ties on both ends... I just bet the braided cable is under that and I can shorten it up so it's only under the tank.

Yes, it's just a simple cover for abrasion protection. You can move it up or down, or shorten it. The standard cable is underneath that.

Take that off. It is nothing but an abrasion guard. Just leave it on wherever it rubs if you feel like it.
