I live in South Florida. I NEVER use enrichner. Just twist throttle twice, hit starter button while twist throttle 1/4 turn. I use throttle lightly to keep running until warmed up. My "ehaust popping" was caused by intake leak.

Thanks for posting this information. I have an 03 carbed Dyna, and have, on occasion had some hesitation and backfiring. I've tried to follow the start up procedure by the book, and now will change to this procedure. I've pretty much done what you described you have done up until now. Thanks.
