Had forwards installed a couple months ago. There's a notch in the front heat shield to accommodate the now non-existant brake pedal.

I usually don't notice the notch, but every once in a while it catches my eye and looks like crap, especially with the discoloration of the exhaust beneath the notch.

Did you install another heat shield (from a Wide Glide) or just live with the notch.

Just did mine about 2 weeks ago, left the notch because I am changing the pipes over the winter.....

 

i had the same problem and drove me nuts.but i changed exhaust so problem solved.but i think you can use the wideglide heat sheild to cover it.

 

I left it I am also going to change the exhaust over the winter.

 

so far just live with e notch. I am pretty happy with my exhaust.

 

I put on a new heatshield, could not bare to look at the gastly knotch any longer. HD part # 65966-06

 

You could put your mid-mount pegs back on. Fills the notch and makes a nice alternative foot position on a long haul and fold out of the way for around town.

live with the notch till your heat shield cracks then have dealler replace with the wg one

 

I never liked that notch much, then the heat shield cracked at the notch. Gave Harley the $65 for a WG shield. Looks much better.
Kind of wondered why the dealer didn't change it over before I picked up the bike.
