Default Your Opinions and Pictures of Your Street Bob Please!

What's up fellas,

I think I get great advice and feedback here and thought I'd ask for another.

I've been thinking about getting a new paint job on my 09 Bob. I always thought Bobs looked the best with the denim black paint. Mine is gloss black but I think I'm gonna go get it repainted.

1. Do you think the Bob looks better with or without the Harley Emblem on the tank?

2. Should I stay with gloss or should I go with the matte finish?

3. Think I should lift the tank a couple of inches?

Any and all opinions(even the bad ones) is appreciated. Thanks!

Emblems - yes, gloss black - yes, tank lift - yes. Lose the reflectors. The crash bar/engine guard has to take a hike as well. That'll be a good start.

Here are the changes I would make to that bike

Emblem-yes
Tank lift-no
Gloss black-yes
Crash bars-get rid of them unless you are gonna crash
Tail light/license plate-Looks odd IMO
Suspension-Lower rear
Primary cover and cam cover-Black em out

Matte or Gloss:

You might consider getting matte black ghost flames. I think that would be killer. Keep the gloss base and get the ghost flames in matte. $.02

Emblems. Your choice, I have never been a fan of that emblem, some don't like my emblem, so it's one of those personal things.

Lift, I can take em or leave em. I had one and it looked good from certian angles and goofy from other angles. I think it looks better with the shorter shocks on the bob.

Suggestion: Get some smoked turn signal lenses... I think it would be a low cost huge impact mod for you. Right out of the HD catalog or from your dealer. (maybe 30-35 bucks)

Good luck!

Cheers,

Tom

I'm a fan of no emblems. You can tell what my bike is without letters on the tank.

I like both denim and gloss, no preference there.

Gloss paint over matte any day......Had the matte finish, Denim Black on my 08 SB. Paid extra for it. I thought it looked great, and it did.....The Denim finish paint from HD is not clear coated. It scratches really easy as it was designed to wear like a pair of denim pants. You can clean it with Windex, but not S100 as it will ruin the finish. The Cons totally out weighed the Pro's imo. If I had to do it allover again, and unfortunately I did, I would not choose the Denim paint offered by the moco. As far as emblems go, I like them but if you are repainting you can change them to something else, or do lettering instead. I ran the 2'" lift and it looked great, whacked the fuel gauge out and you loose a little capacity as well. Just remember to set your trip odometer at each fill up and you should not have any problems.

Your bike looks great as is. Take your paint money and hit the road, put some miles
on her. Just my thought.

I think the tank emblems that come on a Street Bob look like crap, the bike looks way cleaner and more custom without them.I will be replacing my Denim tins with vivid black this winter the Denim was a huge mistake. And the crash bar has got to go.I won't do a tank lift even though I think they look good this is the only bike I've ever owned with a fuel gage and it's dead on I can't see messing that up for a little style.
