Default Finish on aluminum heads

I am doing a major detailing of my 06 SB. The aluminum heads have spots that have not come out with polishing compound. Going to try aluminum polish and maybe progress to sanding. If I do that, is there any type of finish or coating I am removing? What can I put on these after I'm done. wax will just burn off.

Are you talking about the head or rocker cover? My covers have water spots that refuse to come off. I may just have them PC'ed and be done with it.

if you're talking about the heads, DON"T sand off the grooves on the fins........those are to help cooling.

0000 steel wool, you can find it in the furniture stain/finish section of home depot, that will get all the spots out, than a buffing will with jeweler polish will make it sparkle. www.eastwood.com

good luck!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I meant rocker covers. I bought some Never Dull today. So far I cleaned the crossmembers of the fork with it and they look great! Nothing else to do, so I am doing a very detailed detail of the bike. Might get to the rocker covers next weekend.
