I took my diffuser out when I added passing lamps it is much brighter. This is an original mod by kk6pg here in the Dyna section. I did the same on the sporty. It has been a while and no bulbs have blown. I think the diffuser is there to keep the bright light out of teh eyes of the people you are behind and coming the other way, however I would much rather blind someone than have them run me over.

I use the silver stars and silver star ultras...... They are definitely bright, but what you've heard is correct in my case -- they don't last long. I've replaced two of them between March and October of this year. It's a pain in the *** and I'm considering going back to regular old bulbs.

I have a pair of Sylvania Silverstar bulbs, they are working fine (5,500 miles so far). Although I am thinking the Ultra Sylvania Silverstar bulbs might be better (or at least according to them, their web-site, they are even brighter).
I am also considering adding some driving lamps of some sort, just not quite sure which way to go with the driving lights just yet (H-D style or custom).

I have had them close to a year in my fatbob light and still worked. I just installed a Fatboy headlight and bought new one for it too. Got over 5,000 since installation and no problem.
