Default Keeping aluminum parts clean

I've given my Street Bob a good wash, cleaned up all the chrome with chrome cleaner and all that.
This is my second Street Bob and one thing about these Dynas and Sportsters are the aluminum finish gets pretty raunchy if you don't take care of em...
What's with all the crud that gets so hard to polish off?
How do you guys take care of that or maintain from getting stuff on there?

And one other thing, how do you get your pictures to show up on the signature?
I uploaded an image and it doesn't seem to work.

Before you even TRY to post a picture on HDF (see image below):

1. go to your User CP (upper left side of page on blue toolbar) and click on it.

2. Scroll down to "Edit Options" click on it.

3. Now scroll all the way down to the bottom and

4. change from "Basic Editor" to "Enhanced".

5. Confirm settings by clicking "Save Changes" .

If you have not done this then HDF will not allow you to post pictures. (Terry1955; "Administrator & Troll Slayer", 02-20-2010)

Now choose an image from your computer. The maximum size of your custom image should be 500 by 250 pixels or 97.7 KB (whichever is smaller).

Click "Edit Signature" in the "User Control Panel".

Click "Browse"to find the image you want to use in your signature and click "Upload" .

Now click "Preview Signature" to check the result and click "Save Signature" when done.

On aluminum or magnesum,,I'll use a good cleaner first,,(if really dirty),,then I use never-dull,,it's cheap and works great,,the more you use it the better it shines,,

I use a dremel and buy a mini buffing attatchment. use a good polish like you normally would and just before you finish use the dremil as a final buff. works great on small parts. And make sure you have plenty of room to use the tool.

Remember I do not apply polish on the buffing wheel. I just use it to clean up as a final finish. It will last alot longer.

Big fan of Never Dull also, been using 25+ years....It works great and the more you use it the brighter the shine. I would suggest for very dull or heavly oxidized parts something more aggresive. Try Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish with either the Powerball or Powercone. These work great on the rims and any big surfaces like the primary cover. For smaller parts or tighter areas it will need to be done by hand.

I've used White Dimond Polish. Works well for me.
