Aluminum oxidizes just at a much slower rate then steel.

Washing removes contaminents that can accelerate the oxidation causing pitting and stains.

Waxing helps protect the finish.

So to keep polished aluminum looking good wash and wax often.

also be careful using chemicals to clean your alunimun. I sprayed some Superclean on my motor to clean some road grime and oil off and it ruined its brightness. turned the non polished alunimun parts dark gray and the polished parts was dulled also.I tried some Aluminum Brightner thats for aluminum and it did nothing but brighten the dullness of the wheel rims. It seems to only work on polished surfaces ?

I use a tablespoon of lemon joy its a degreaser and dewaxer to wash my bike, then wax the tins and use mothers to polish with final buffing. I always wash my cars with lemon joy. Its a mild detergent that doesnt hurt the clearcoat. For the wax, I use Meguires 3 stage.
