I came over from the metric dark-side this weekend when I purchased a 2007 FXDL Low Rider. I am interested in replacing the my pegs with floorboards which I found very comfortable when riding the VStar. Can anyone recommend floorboards I should consider?

You will find Instruction Sheets for the OEM and aftermarket floorboard kits in my database (see link to it in my signature).
For your 2007 FXDL you will have to mount the V-Twin floorboards (click the link to view them):

27-0920... Substitute by V-Twin Mfg(added 02-12-2010)

 

I have been searching for suitable ones since 2007, havn't found them yet. I wish HD would make a mount so that we could use factory boards. They have them for the passenger but not the rider. V-Twin kit # 27-0920 is the best kit but according to reports they sit to high.

 

I thought it may have been me just being unable to find rider floorboards from H-D, so I'm glad you mentioned that none exist. The boards from VTwin Mfg look good but like others, I am not interested in the heel/toe shifter especially since some users reported limitations in how the shifter works. I'm not too concerned with the height since I am only 5'9" and my legs are relatively short.

 

Solution to the heel and toe shifter: Dremel cutoff wheel ....

 

Get a spacer and leave the heel toe shifter off. I posted some pics in a thread a while back.

+1 for the V-Twin mini floor boards, easy to install and adjust, and much more comfortable than the pegs.

 

I have the V-Twin floorboard kit on my 2009 SuperGlide and have not been more comfortable when riding. I did not like the heel shifter so I just cut it off and adjusted the toe shifter. I am 5'10" and have no problems with board height.
