How many miles before you NEEDED new tires?

I got around 14k out of my Dunlop SE GT502 180 rear. The front 401 still has around 1k left on it. I ride 2-up 75% of the time.
BTW, after I priced a new SE GT502 180 (Yikes), I went back to the K591 160 that I had taken off the bike (it still has at least 5k left on it). IMO, the bike handles better with the 160.

Tread
I think that depends on what compound you're running. A soft gum rubber works great on dry roads but NFS on wet. Water doesn't squeeze out from under a slick very well without tread.

No, it sure doesn't ..you are correct there !!!
I'm just saying you can work around it... Street tires don't have great traction around a horse track, but we make it work...
There's also a rain pic in there for ya..
You're also not supposed to jump motorcycles like they are dirt bikes either... !!!

Screw job
I have 5,000 miles on my dyna and both Dumbflops are about shot. Dealer said this is unusual and checked the alignment. After explaining that they really didn't find much wrong they sent me on my way. They said I'd get another 2,000 on them. WTF. Only 7,000 miles on a set of overpriced tires? I paid $400 out the door for a pair of big *** Michelin racing tires for my Z3 and they went 60,000 and still had tread on them.
What's wrong with this picture? Jus aksin.

Believe me I'm in college I'm not rich ...but if I can get a few months of fun for $130ish dollars I think its worth it... a crackheads spends that much for a few hours of fun, so I guess it could be worse lol
