Default Broken '10 WG motor mount, PART F'N 4!!!

OK, some of you here may remember here that when I bought my bike, it came right out of the crate with the HD Optional Broken Motor Mount. Went from 4 to 28 miles before the dealer believed it really wasn't just "break-in vibes" and replaced it.

At 5,000 miles, that one broke. 300 miles later.......that one also broke. 120 miles later........yup, I now have another ****ed up motor mount in my brand new 18K bike.

Maryland lemon law says if a vehicle (cars, light trucks, & bikes) has 4 of the same repairs that effect either the resale value or saftey of said vehicle AND is less than 24 months or 18,000 miles then it qualifies and the dealer has to take it back for full purchase price. The dealer has already agreed that my bike meets all of that.....anyone here wanna buy a bike that ***** mounts every other week. Keep in mind I bought this thing new in April of this year. So that's 4 motor mounts in 6 months.

They have my bike right now "examining" it and attempting a fix.

My problem is......i don't think I want the ****in thing back. Especially if they end up having to do any type of frame modifications at all....I don't want a new bike with frame-work! As much as I love it, I pay way too much to have to worry about the mount every time I take a trip. It's rediculous. This says nothing about the front tire they had to replace under warranty, either.

You guys think I am being picky, or tell them to ride that bike up thier asses?

Sounds like a lemon, it happens. I'd ask for an entire new bike, do it nicely.

It may take some doing but be presistant and tell them it is not acceptable to get that same bike back, obviously something is so far out of spec it's ripping itself a part. Sucks man, but good luck and they should transfer all your mods to the new bike, free of charge for your hassle.

Picky? Certainly not. Moco caters to an upscale market. But let's face it, you're putting way too much faith in the dealer, who has proven over & over he can't fix this problem. Have you been in direct contact w/ Moco on this?

Someone can fix this. If you want it fixed, you will let nothing prevent you from making that happen.

If you don't really care for the basic bike, anyway, then it seems you have found justification to sell it back to Moco.

Has the dealer called in a factory rep to look over the bike. Just reading your problems sounds like the engine wasn't installed properly, probably sitting in the frame katty whompus.

No your not being picky! I would be pretty hot! I would have them buy it back or exchange for a new bike and have them give you some extra's for your trouble.

Sounds like they need to do an alignment and also check for excessive crank run out. There is more to the alignment than just loosening up the rear mount. Have you personally seen all 3 mounts torn? Has the same Dealer been doing the work?

Let them keep it! The first time it broke I would've thought bad mount, 2nd time I would of had them really take a look at it. It's not common for motor mounts to break like that. The 3rd time should of threw up flags at the dealer! And now there's a 4th time?! It's obvious the dealer never really looked at the bike, instead they just replaced it and sent you on your way. I would get my money back and buy another bike from another dealer, cause it's clear that dealership has no clue what their doing!

As far as the dealer goes, the first 3 times were done at the dealer that is closest to me, not the one I bought the bike from. The bike is now in the shop of the dealer I bought it from.

I did see the first 2 mounts, yesterday I saw the 3rd. The third is not completely ripped, more like it's got a huge spot worn in it because it's constantly rubbing against part of the frame.....if I gave it another couple hundred miles it'd be ripped, too....I just caught this one earlier.

One thing is for sure I wouldn't go back to that one! 3 times and they never investigated the problem, just kept putting new mounts on. Seems like they were more interested in billing the moco for warranty work than actually fixing the problem. Hope you get it fixed the right way or better yet getting to walk out with something new.

Ask what the clearance is between the mount and the frame when the bolts are lined up with the holes before the tighten it up. I assume you know about shimming the motor mount?
Its that or crank run out.
Please keep us posted.
