When I park it for the winter I just fill the gas tank and charge the battery about once a month. Even in my attached garage it gets below freezing, then on a warmer day there will be condensation on the motor, I suspect there is condensation on the inside also. I've always changed the fluids in the Spring. Some people like to start their bike during the Winter, especially if they have a new bike, just to hear it. Starting it without properly heating it up like a ride does will also cause condensation that won't dry up. So, I say service in the Spring.

man if the oil does all that you guys must be using some cheap *** oil... hell i just had my motor apart after letting the bike sit with old oil in it 4 years in a row, never change it before storage and the insides where great! i mean spot on, ever the bearings where nice... i use either Amsoil from my buddy Chad or lucas if i can not get out by him... granted i start my bike about 5 or 6 times a winter for about 5 - 10 min... but man it must be some cheap *** oil to create issues like that after 4-5 months of sitting... hell my dads friends willgo that long wihtout riding, should they change the oil every time they ride?

Thanks for all of the responses guys. My concern was leaving the contaminated oil (metal shavings, etc...) in the engine all winter. If it was any other change other than the 1000 mile, I would definately wait until Spring to change to oil. Guess I'm still on the fence. Appreciate the input though!!

+1...I just hit 1000 miles on my street bob and the dealer said to wait until spring to change the fluids.
