Default Dyna's with 103" builds...I'm joining the club!

The platform: 2009 Dyna Fat Bob (vivid black).
Already have the heavy breather, PC V and pipes (V&H Big Shot Stag) like probably 99% of FXDF's on the road.

The plan:
Screamin Eagle 27535-08 Big Bore kit
SE 211 cams
Custom tune and toss out the PC V.

I'm hoping for HP and TQ where I like to use it in the low and mid range. I really DON'T want to lose low end to gain top end...I'm not a racer.
However, I have not heard of one person that went with a 211 that said they wished they'd gone with a 255, but I have met a guy that had 255's in a 103 that would have rather had 211's in his original 96. My thought: "OK, so I'll get the 103 and put 211's in it...leave no room for doubt."

The dealer has a deal going on next month in the next city over where if I go with them, they'll throw in the tune and dyno for free which I figure would normally cost 200-250 bucks.

Thoughts? I've got time to change my mind so anyone with a better idea that starts and runs in the garage by all means I'd like to hear your experiences.

Thanks gents!

I'm new to the board but I have had a Fat Bob since 2009 that I have been slowly adding things to. I'm also wanting to do the 103" upgrade. I purchased the kit for the FXDF #27566-09 which includes the 255 cam. I guess everyone has different thoughts on which is best. The 255 as I said came with the kit. Some say it makes the bike run hot because of the duration. I really don't know so I am hopeful that some of the more knowledgeable people ad in. I realy only want to do it once.

The SE204 with a 34*IVC would have more bottom end. The 45* intake valve close on the 211 makes them like the higher R's.

I was talking to a guy that says he has 211s in his 2010 fxd, thunderheader, heavy breather, and maybe SERT... says his mileage dropped to about 120 a tank... that sucks when my 2010 thunderheader, SE Pro air cleaner and stage one download... I get about 225 to the tank... what are others experience with cams and SERT????

Hmmm...that's all very interesting.
Any experiences with mileage and new cams? Significant drop compared to stock cams? I'd like to know before I make my decision between the 255's and 211's later today!
I'll do a search in the meantime and if I don't edit this post in the next 15 minutes you'll all know I didn't find anything.

Thanks for sharing experiences in advance.

SE cams are garbage!!! and why worry about mileage? even if you get the 100/100 youre still likely gonna get 40 mpg or close to it so why even ask about mileage. you want power right? or are you just worried about pissin off a bunch of LIBERALS with your quest for HP??

Another expert on SE cams. Have you run them, or you just going from what you heard. It is a reliable cam and I run 107 ft/lbs of torque at 2500rpm. Its a good low end cam which runs out in the high 4000rpm range which I never run anyway as I seldom take the bike over 3500 rpms don't need to.

Well; here's my 103 build with HQ headwork and cams...100+ ft lbs from 2200 to 5800. I do go above 5000rpm, but it gets violent.

Here's the setup I have. Headed to the dyno in a few weeks, but my mad scientist and I have a beer on it having 105+HP!

103 cylinders
SE MCR heads
SE push rods
SE 1690 pistons
SE 259 cam
SE 50mm throttle body
SE heavy breather
SE compression release
SE Super Tuner
V&H Big Radius 2-into-1

No heat issues but definately have a reduction in fuel economy. Does not matter when I can pop a wheelie going into 3rd gear!
