Well, everything turned out pretty much as expected ... however, the clearance between the acorn nut that holds the front of the saddlebag bracket to the strut is inadequate to be able to use the front latch ...

I had to add more spacers than I originally planned ... so, I dispensed with the acorn nuts and am using standard nuts ... adds a little more space, but I am only able to barely get the front latch open/closed ... just a little inconvenience I'll have to live with I suppose ...

Looks pretty good, but I am going to have to do a lot of touch up on the hinges and I'm going to paint the rivet heads black ...

I remembered why I can't have nice things ... I dick them up too easily ... like several little nicks and scratches in the pristine new paint job while preparing everything for installation ...

Then, after having rewired the fairing for sound, install it on the bike ... and FAILZ ... bummer ... back to the drawing board ...

So, I went back to the drawing board ... going with the CycleVisions setup ...

... a few pics ...

... color comparison with tank and fender in the first couple of photos ... then showing the lid and bags ...

I am just waiting for the saddlebag lid gaskets to come in and a couple of final touches on the brackets ...

Hope to get some photos up of the final product early next week ...

Todd, the bags look great. Mine fit really well and the lids from eBay are perfect. I assume you picked up the same lids right?
Which hinge kit did you end up with?
The ones I go from ebay fit nicely although some of the screws were wrong and the latch covers are plastic k-rap and one broke the first time I opened the bag which is no issue because I ordered a billet set.

I think my hardware kit was from fairingfactoryus ... I got a set of ABS latch covers and had them sprayed the same color as the bags ... I got a black powder coated insert with ball milled grooves in place of the reflectors ... I haven't mocked up the hardware yet as I thought I'd wait until the gaskets came in and install them first ...

Hope my ABS latch covers are more durable than yours were ...

Think my lids were from the same source ... $100 for the pair ...
