Hard bag upgrade ... hopefully
#22
Okay ... comment period is over ...
Here's how it is going to look (kind of different under the harsh paint booth lights) ...
I thought it over this morning and liked what I got, so went with it ...
More pics to follow over the next couple of days when I get it reassembled and back in the daylight ... still to come, another surprise ...

more pics ...
More pics and finally some more on the bags ...
... another of the oak leaf on the fairing ...
... I color matched the inner fairing ...
... blacked out as much of the chrome trim pieces as I could lay my hands on ...
... lower fairings also matched ...
... and finally, the point of the thread ... the bags ... need to touch up the black on the hinges ... but, I think it will look good ...

More pics ...
Finally just about done ...
Well, everything turned out pretty much as expected ... however, the clearance between the acorn nut that holds the front of the saddlebag bracket to the strut is inadequate to be able to use the front latch ...
I had to add more spacers than I originally planned ... so, I dispensed with the acorn nuts and am using standard nuts ... adds a little more space, but I am only able to barely get the front latch open/closed ... just a little inconvenience I'll have to live with I suppose ...
Looks pretty good, but I am going to have to do a lot of touch up on the hinges and I'm going to paint the rivet heads black ...
* * *
I remembered why I can't have nice things ... I dick them up too easily ... like several little nicks and scratches in the pristine new paint job while preparing everything for installation ...
Then, after having rewired the fairing for sound, install it on the bike ... and FAILZ ... bummer ... back to the drawing board ...
