Default Bassani Road Rage Chrome Short on 09 Street Bob

Hi everyone.
I'm way down in Korea and I just ordred a set of Bassani Road Rage Short Chrome muffers.
Currently it's a pretty standard FXDB,

SE Heavy Breather
Kerker Exhaust
SERT

For some reason i was interested in the Road Rage shorts.

When I did a search for the exhaust DNG5150CL, I found three different looking Bassani's and I'm not sure which one is on the way.

The file 5150CL1 is what I thought I was getting, the exhaust tip ends at the end of the battery case in front of the rear shock.
The file 5150CL2 is something that another site had for their picture and the final 5150CL3 is what Bassani had on there site which is substantially longer than the first..

Anyone know about this? and I dont mind a little blueing or discoloration but I saw another picture of a DYNA and the discoloration was way too intense...

I'm into performance and sound but the looks of it was just plain ugly...

The 09 with the silver primary is mine(current) and the peach one is a picture I picked up of a guy with a severely discolored RR...

Can anyone enlighten me with what they think of all this?

the short 2 -1 is one of my fav dyna pipes... never seen one, never heard one... almost owned one, but lost the auction by 2bucks to a fella on here a while back... i personally LOVE that pipe

the blue'n and discoloration looks like the pipe does not have shields on it.. pretty much all pipes do that just the heat sheilds make them look pretty... just order shields when you get the pipes!
i would love to get my hands on a set of them..

i have this in black on my 07 SB. Love the sound and performance. Finish sucks. Had it redone 3 different times. Last time was High temp powder coat and it was better but it still is not good after a month. Finally had it wrapped. BTW - no heat shields available for this pipe and it would ruin the look if you were able to add them.

I had the black bassani road rage short pipes on my 09 street bob when I had it. I put about 8000 miles on in 7 months and had no problems with the finish. Are you using any special chemicals or washing when they are hot or scrubbing or just using a mild soap and sponge when washing them? Did you have the bike re tuned for them at all?
Just seems strange that you are getting low mileage out of different finishes on the same pipe. I have heard of others having this pipe crack after using wrap.

Dawn dish soap and water only - soft rag/no scrubbing when cleaning. I never wash hot. Retuned with a Dyno and Sert. Tune was checked a second time on the dyno. The tuner has a great reputation in the area.

I do think Bassani Quality is inconsistant. My first set didn't even fit. Second set (replaced under warranty) slid right on with no trouble.

Hopefully the wrap won't crack on this set.

Default Road Rage Pipe

The main thing (for me) about this pipe is the fact that it runs HOT HOT HOT. Makes good numbers on the dyno though...it is also loud. If I don't wear earplugs when riding, I can't hear for the rest of of the day if you don't shout. The black finish shows anything you touch it with.... the dude that dynoed my bike spilled a coke on it so Rustoleum barbeque paint is my friend. The heat shields for the chrome pipe cover almost nothing and are a waste of money in my opinion. If you wrap them they will crack shortly, so you either learn to live with it or shorten their useful life.

Default Well the exhaust arrived

It looks pretty darn good.
Pictures don't necessarily do it justice in my opinion.
Decided to order new chrome flanges to go with the new look.
There's actually specific instructions on cleaning off all the fingerprints and such before first start and "curing" the chrome.
I don't really mind the bluing but the bike in the picture I put up was a bit too much.
Anyhow, I'll post some pictures as soon as I get the exhaust on.
Anyone know if there's a SERT program specific for Bassani RR + Heavy Breather?
In Korea, it's next to impossible to find a place to dyno the bike.
Half of these guys riding don't even map leading to alot of bikes running ultra lean...

There is RR 5150CL on Super Glide in the attachment, bought in 2009 from Dragspecialties. Hope this helps.

Did you powdercoat the header pipes? It looks great, I might wanna do something like that.
Are those heat shields on em?
