I am curios who has the cruiser tune and who has the sport tune and are you happy with the choice. Is there any body who got a certain tune and then later switched to the other tune and can make a comparison.

thanks

Sport tune 13inch for me hound and I wouldn't change a thing. I talked with Brian at Ricor about my riding style before buying and his recommendations were spot on.

I have the cruiser tune, 12". I love the ride, I don't know if the preload is right, haven't bottomed yet. Will work on the preload more after I get the intiminator's in the front forks.

do the crusiers ever seems too soft or "bouncy" after a bump or do they feel well planted

I am asking this because I have the 12.5 sport and they feel great in the turns, and feels great over humps or dips, and they feels real stable at higher speeds, but for rough roads at highway speeds they definatly are not the smoothest. I was wondering if I should have gone with the cruiser.. Most of my riding is in downtown San Antonio and the roads around downtown suck.
I am happy with the overall feel of the shocks, just wondering if the crusiers would have been better for me. I definatly like to ride agressive in the turns out in the hill country and tend to ride above the speed limit most of the time , which is why i got the sport.

If it sounds like a complaint it is not and i apologize because i am satisfied with the purchas.

We went out of town this week end and the shocks felt good. it was a 400 mile day, then when we got back to SA I felt like I was getting beat up by the roads, but this is where i do most of my riding

I have the shocks set at 9 full turns from the top.
Interestingly enough, the shocks feel perfect at 14 turns when my wife is riding passenger. Solid and great feeling, smooth but not soft or "bouncy"

Had the Ricor 12 1/2" sport tune on my 07 Low Rider set up for 240 lb rider.
Worked great at 12 - 14 turns, rode some pretty rough backroads down below Medina Lake Dam riding pretty agressively with another forum member. I also have the Intiminators and Ricors prescribed Shock Therapy Amsoil......worked great.
I wanted a little lower stance for this machine so I bought a set of 12" Ricors (Sport tune on those also), but they are set to about 7 - 9 turns and feel almost as good, a tad rougher riding than the 12 1/2" but still ride great.
I put the 12 1/2" units and Intiminators on my Street Bob that will be set up for a little more agressive riding (more than what I am willing to push my Low Rider anyway!!), therefore a little more suspension travel will be better in this case.
Never even considered the Cruiser tune to be frank.
Took Brians recommendations and got it done.

Hellhound,
Have you installed the Intiminators yet?
Makes a big difference on the overall feel and balance of the machine.
I had the Progressive lowering kit installed in the front forks at first and couldn't get them back out quick enough.
Put the stock springs and spacers back in with the spacers trimmed 5/8" and put a big smile on my face.
Try it, you'll like it.

yea i have the intiminators, I agree they are great.
I guess i was just wondering if the cruiser tune would still give me the performance i want , but with a little smoother feel on the rough roads. The shocks are worlds better than the stock ones I replaced

I suspect that me being a skinny guy 165 lbs affects the ride also.
like i said with my wife on (105 lbs) we are a combined 270 lbs and at 14 turns the ride is perfect. The extra weight and added preload really absorbs alot of the road input.

thanks everyone for your responses

The cruisers I have don't bounce at all. I had them set at 10 turns. I just turned them to 9 turns but haven't ridden the bike yet to see how it is.

As light as you are........... you may be right, the Cruiser tune may be just the ticket as long as you don't ride that agressively.
Brian (if anybody) should be able to give you the best reference though.
Ride safe.

I have a similar issue, the sport tuned for a 200 lb rider is real filling loosening stiff over larger bumps for me regardless of how many turns (its a Fat Bob with shorter 12 inch stock shocks). There is one highway bridge that throws me off the seat more or less depending on how many turns. Too stiff for my riding comfort but they work great for smooth road or small bump handling and aggressive riding. Not sure if a softer shock tune would help. In hindsight I should probably have went with a longer shock, but I though I needed the stock length shock to stay at stock height.

I have a Fat Bob too and have been thinking about going with new shocks. Going 12 1/2 wouldn't mess anything up would it? I ride a lot of country roads and it will be smooth and then a huge seam buckle in the pavement or something. Rough at 70-75.
