Default Stage 1 Download On Stock FXDF

Searched but couldn't find anyone that has done only a Stage 1 remap on a stock bike-No change out on pipes or AC. Will this rich up the mix a little? Cool the running temps? Also, if a Stage 1 remap is done, does this cancel out the Engine Idle temperature Management System download? This is for my 2011 FatBob. Thanks for any info you can give.

people round these parts will usually get Xied's which will trick the current system into running more rich. About 100 bucks I think.

I did the HD stage 1 recalibration with the SE Heavy Breather and SE pre 06 slip on mufflers. Bike did perform noticeably better but still ran hot around town. I did the Xieds and it richened it up quite a bit. During my 1st 500 miles without the Xieds the muffler tips inside were still clean. I mean barely any soot. After Xieds and 50 miles they were black and running rich as my fuel mpg went down. Runs great now with the set up I did.

The dealer put the stage 1 download on my 2008 Fat Bob when I purchased it and added the Screaming Eagle air cleaner (not the Heavy Breather) and the Screaming Eagle slip-ons. While I did perceive a boost in power, the heat management didn't seem to change. Like has been stated above, I put on a set of Xied's that I got from someone on this forum, and that seemed to help.

The stage 1 does not richen the closed loop mix, your ECU will try to correct to the EPA hot running lean mix. The open loop may run a bit richer, but unless you are running WOT most of the time, that's not going to help you.

I ran Xieds for awhile, although they cooled the bike, they did not fix surging or decel pop issues and was a good 3-4 mpg hit on economy. I went to a $400 TTS tuning kit and used it to adjust the bike to run just a bit cooler, fix the drivability issues, and improve the mpg. It also livened up the bike quite a bit over the Xied. Not sure if Xieds work on the 2011s.
