dragstrip times
Anyone in the forums here that has raced their bike down the dragstrip?> if so id like to hear about it.
Heres my baby 2009 fxdf
103 built by me motor
tuned by direct link (speed density)
7.57@93mph 1/8 mile (dont know how to get a quarter mile time from that)
that was last weekend in texas with a crumby 60 foot of 1.95 i had a previous run with a 1.80 60 foot but missed third gear shift so the time was only a 7.90 that run. when i get to third it hits the rev limiter right before the end of the track i uped the rev limiter to 6500 instead of 6000 just havent been back yet.. bike feels good but there are never harleys out there to see how well im doing or if i built the bike right.
would love to see some real world times. tyanks guys

Great numbers. I would guess around 11.7-12.0 for the quarter mile. The NHRA swags a 1.6 conversion factor.....but cars have a much slicker drag (air drag) coeffiecient than a street Harley, so the Harley is gonna accelerate at a lesser rate as the speed rises due to the exponential drag factor.

So a 7.57 in the 8th "should" be an 11.35. Certainly faster than my Buell ever went by the way. But even with the 1.6 conversion, thats still pretty fast. I am always interested in what other racers turn with there bikes since its so freaking rare to get real life numbers for our bikes. Magazines rarely thrash big twins at the track....sigh. The non racers always lie to puff up their ego's and the hard core racers always lie to hide their advantages. Seems like unless your at the track and watch a guy with the clocks on, you just never really know. We appreciate an honest guy once in a while.

I seem to remember Mud starting a strip thread, where you could post your time slips. (read: post a photo of your timeslip. Anyone can say whatever they want but it's tough to fudge a time slip unless you're REALLY good at photoshopping.
