Default Where to find replacement Main Wiring Harness

I have a 2000 Dyna Wide Glide. I need a new main wiring harness (the one that runs thru the frame from the neck to the battery). The local dealership is telling me they are obsolete. So now what? Does anyone know where I can find one?

I would get the part number and start searching dealers and you might find someone who has one. I would try the bigger internet delaers like Zanotti's, Chicago HD, Latus HD, St.Paul HD first. You may have to remove the harness and have a new one made or the one you have rebuilt which is pricey but may be your only resort.

By the way I just bought a 2010 FXWG with the flame paint. It is awesome.

Good luck.

Screw having a new one made. Sean can splice the wires if necessary. He was trying to pull it to change the handlebars and it just would not budge. Well he got into it with a screw driver and then by the end of it all he just cut the wires at the neck and pulled them thru the back. Something was seriously stuck. We didn't have any problem with the other bike. All that is damaged is the front wires near the neck. I just didn't like the idea of splicing wires. I'd rather just have a new harness.

Harley said they have one for an 2003 for $450. YIKES!! Any idea if that would work? Didn't they change things in 2003?

I believe by law Harley has to supply parts for 10 years. I would check if there is any difference between your bike and a 2001 wide glide. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same.

Sean is going to call JP Cycles and see what they have. It's so hard to tell from the pics online. But what he pulled out seems to have a LOT more wires!

Weren't there connectors on the end of the harness, located underneath the seat on earlier dynas? Maybe that's they they got stuck.

Heather tell Sean to go to a West Marine or similar store or on line and get some marine grade heat shrink electrical crimp connectors in the correct wire guage. They are easy to use splicing broken wires (they heat seal with a bic lighter) and will not come apart and will take severe service since they are made for marine use. Then just splice the old harness back together.
