Thanx.
The belt cover and the struts were powder coated

Hey - is it necessary to tear down the turn signal or can it be powdercoated with the plastic socket and wiring in place?

Funny how the little things hit different people in different ways. My bike isn't even all black but those raw metal axle nuts drove me crazy. I bought black caps to cover mine.

I am new to working on Harleys so I have a question. How do you remove the wires on the rear turn signals. Do they have to be cut or can they be unplugged? I am getting the fender struts powdercoated and need some advice. Thanks.

On my 07 SB, I remove the taillight cover and unplug the rear sigs from there. Then un-bolt the turn sigs and carefully pull the wire from the hole in the support strut and cove, the pug fits through the holes.

personally I think the chrome signals/bolts on black supports looks unfinished, especially if you are going for a "blacked out look". Not that hard to disassemble the light housing to powder them and a trip to a good hardware supply store will score you clean 12pt, button head or socket head black oxide bolts for the fender. it's the little things that make the difference. also think the strut covers look better a flat finish or wrinkle like the other factory black parts.

Default Chrome Support covers

Do they look that odd in person or is there a black turn signal option?

Otherwise I was debating on keeping the support covers chrome and still getting the rear detachable sissy bar/pad in black. Not sure how that would look with the chrome fender supports.
If your chrome covers are in perfect shape, I'll buy them.
