Default Any Backrest bag that doesn't need a rack?

I am dating a girl who loves to ride on my bike with me.

We want to take some trips next summer and I want to add a sissy bar bag.

I have the quick detach backrest and thought I'd seen bags that didn't need a rack.

Anyone have info on that?

Instead of buying a Harley rack, I also thought about just welding something up and having it powdered...along with the entire sissy bar setup since my HD sideplates are pitting anyway.

Most bags of a substantial size -- ones that would allow you to take "trips" -- either sit on the passenger seat or hang off the back and sit on a rack.

Are you just looking for something small enough to carry smokes, some gloves, clear glasses...etc? Or are you looking for a big enough bag to get you through a weekend?

At least a change of clothes for an overniter.

Why not just put your detachable sissy bar on the back (with a rack) and pop on the overnighter bag from HD. That's what I bought. Works great, weather proof, and is easily removable. It carries a weekends worh of items/clothes easily, and can be toted around like a gym bag. :shrugs:

I looked into the same thing a while back. My dealer and I were looking at a bag by Kuryakyn that hangs off the rear sissy bar. It wouldn't work with the sissy bar I have but may work with yours. It has a special type of strapping method.

I've got a Saddlemen sissybar bag that doesn't need a rack for support. It has zippered expandable sides, backpack straps, an extra detachable sleeping roll bag, all the bells and whistles. Don't remember which model, just check out their website.

That's what I have - the Kuryakyn GranTour. It's a great bag. You can attach it to a sissy bar or backrest, or it comes with a special padded "mount" that goes under your seat where you can attach straps. I love that thing and goes with me everywhere.

Like I said...didn't want to buy the rack unless I had to.

I have seen bags that didn't require the rack but can't find them now.
