More work on "Susie"

Technically repops...but ya know what? I think they may be N.O.S.....they are 100% authentic!!! I was VERY much surprised when I looked at them! They have that "1970's AMF bowling ball/bowling alley" look/smell and feel to them. These are the way to go in my opinion!!! I think these are leftovers, or at least made by the same company that made the first ones. Personally, I could not be happier! They really are worth the money!
The smell, look, texture, etc. take me back to better days as a kid in the early 70's.
Page 721 in the "yellow book" at V-Twin Mfg. I HIGHLY recommend these bags to guys that actually like old Harley AMF stuff!
DAMN...they remind me of being a kid in the early 70's again.

Picked the bags up from the body shop:
I'll tell you one thing....when they sanded them down, they found spider cracks around ALL of the bolt holes I drilled, and the holes from me mounting them on there ONE TIME and takng her for a ride around the block! The steel plates I made for the inside of the bag is DEFINITELY necessary. Also, when you have a REAL body shop do work for you, you get top results.....but hell yeah, it costs MAJOR coin!! Jeff also told me, they had to basically glaze over all the surfaces to get them "right".....so these bags are REALLY super sweet, guys!
These bags cost me roughtly $1,300 TOTAL completed, hanging on the bike. But, if you want A++ body work and paint, that's the deal.
I hope some of you can see what I see in this. They are TRULY beautiful! Every time I have Jeff at Crossroads Auto Body in Rapid City do bodywork and paint, it is ALWAYS drop dead gorgeous. He is a Harley guy, and they do ALOT of bikes and hotrods/streetrods.
I have a freakin' MINT, MINT, MINT set of 1977 FLH bags now~~~!!!!!!!
Damn, I am stoked! Feels like Chistmas around here right now.

Joe:
If you haven't already got it figured out, you might consider using a neoprene washer between the brackets and the bag, and a little silicone sealant on the inside around where the mounting bolts come through ... help isolate and waterproof it a little ....
Bags look great ... congrats on a job well done ....
