Which 1450 (88) or 1584 (96) cant make up my mind ..

I prefer 88.
Shorter stroke....like to rev better.
That said 88's, at least 2005 and older need gear driven cam conversion or '06+ cam chain setups.
6th gear is nice, but not necessary....5 speeds work fine. Hell, there are guys still riding 4 speed bikes all across the country.
MINT 2005 Dyna Superglides can be picked up for a song. Change out the cam setup, and RIDE.
2006 was an oddball year. The engine was a new design, and there are some one year only parts in them.
I recommend 2004-2005 dyna with gear driven cams (and upgrade to TIMKEN cam bearings)and chromoly adjustable pushrods personally.
