Default Dunlop D407 on your street bob?

I don't like the lack of mileage I got out of my stock rear tire. I also want to go wider and since there are only 2 180 tires out that will fit the stock wheel I am looking into a 170 for more options. Has anyone ran the Dunlop D407 touring tire on their scoot? It seems like being designed and used on all the new FL's you should be able to get a lot more mileage and still have decent enough performance. This tire is available in the 170 and says it will fit the stock rear rim width on the 09 street bob.

I got 6k out of a 180 SE, Switch to the 407
Got 14k out of the first, I now have almost 10k on a 2nd.
And there will be a 3rd, someday.
Great tire, Very pleased...

You can also PM ARCHERGOODWIN. He's on his second D407!! I think he got like 10-12k on his last one.

The 407 / 170 tire changed my 07 street bob's handing for the better. I get around 10,000 but run my 106 fairly hard. I'm on my third one so go for it, you'll like it.

FYI - The 170 D407 is NOT a dual compound tire. Only the D407 sizes that fit the 09' up H-D touring bikes are. If you get good mileage and handling great, but don't think you are getting the same dual compound tire as the touring bike have in a D407 170/60-17.

Ahh !! Yes I remember Rich saying something about that last year now that you mention it. He still got 10-12k out of the 170/60/17 though. He could have squeezed out a little more I think, but he was planning on Sturgis at the time and changed it. I think it was a conversation Rich had with Dunlop that brought up that size wasn't multi tread. He's still happy with the tire.

I'm running the Sportmax Roadsmart sport touring tire (didn't like the HD stamping). So far so good, sticks just fine. My buddies GSXR750 has the same tire just the 180/55/17 as he was looking for milage. It says MULTI TRED as well, but I didn't write them to verify. I don't have any milage out of it yet, since I only got 1k on them, but I like them so far!!

I ran two of the D407 tires and both were gone before 6500 miles

@ MUD

That's what we thought when my buddy bought the tire initially, but in the researching he emailed or called customer service and they told him that the 170/60/17 wasn't a MT. I remember specifically because my bud was pissed and asked them why do they advertised it as such and they didn't give him an answer other then "I don't know what to tell you, but it's not a MT" Then they told him what sizes were MT's. Unless the guy at Dunlop that day was a complete tool!!
