Default 2011 Wide Glide Trade in for a Street Glide Question

I have an 11 wideglide and love the looks and like the ride. I have 500 miles on it and thought today after my 1st 150 mile ride that I would should of bought the street glide i oringally wanted. The 11 wideglide is 10 days new and it has 500 miles. I am going to call the dealer tomorrow if they are open on Mondays. But i figure i would pose the question here. Do you think the dealer would take the bike back in and me take a small i mean small lose.?

Your thoughts

I would think you would take more than a small hit. But I may be wrong

You can talk to him. I don't think he will give you what you paid, I think you may be lucky to get 2K less than what you paid. You may do better if you buy the SE SG or ask for breaks on the addons.

Good luck, who knows maybe you have a great dealer that will be willing to work with you.

Take the MSRP $$ difference between the 2 bikes and then add $6,000 plus taxes, tag and fees. There is approx. $3k mark up on your bike and a $3k depreciation on your bike. The dealer has to have a small margin to make it worth buying a used bike that the warranty has started. If it takes 6 months to sell, it only has 1 1/2 year of warranty versus 2 tears. Some potential buyer will want to save $1500 to $2000 over a new bike which leaves the dealer $1000 to $1500 margin. Also, most of the time the new bikes have some type of program or special going on. I got the 1,000 & 5,000 miles service at no charge ($600 savings at my dealer).

I bought a 2010 wideglide had 1500 miles and was not happy.Traded it for 2010 streatglide got 17,000 for w/g and paid 23,000 for s/g upside down about 4,500 but its worth it . If you have extras on it take it off before trade and sell it out dont let them take it good luck.

I won't take that kind of hit, but I do agree that the Street Glide will be my next Harley.

Good luck and let us know!

Might get lucky but I would guess a 3 to 5k hit.

Default wg/sg swap

i paid 15k and change for it. if they give me 14k and the street glide is 19k i will do it. if they give me less i will make due with what i have. i dont hate the wide glide. its just i know i would be happier with the sg. my thoughts at the time was keep the wg for a few years then step up to the sg. after the 150mile trip, i know waiting a few years will seem like forever.

the other thing was i ordered rush slipons, and scheduled the install for the pipes , air cleaner, and stage 1 download a week ago. havent paid for the stuff yet since the pipes are due to be in at dealer after sept 30th. so if i do the swap then i will cancel my order.
