Hey all. I am going to be relacing a 16 inch crossbones rim to my front hub.part number for rim is 43017-07 in case someone needs it. What else do I need to get to get it done? Will the spokes from stock rim work? Do I need a rim band? Anything else? I want to have everything ready to go before I take the stock one off. Thanks in advance.

 

You'll need a rim band ... do you have the tire and a tube ...? Are you going to true the rim yourself ...?

I didn't try lacing a mixed rim and hub, so not sure if your spokes are reusable for your job at hand ... I re-laced a set of Heritage wheels I bought after I disassembled them for powdercoating ....

I gave them to an indy shop for trueing, balancing and mounting the tires ....

 

Have you done the rear to a 200 ? The x bones front tire is D402F MT90B16 72H ,I take it a Dunlop MT135/90B16 72H,that's going to be a squeeze inbetween the SB forks..couple of guys I knew did that conversion but I forgot to ask if they used the fat bob triple trees..
I personally like that conversion much more than the 21" or 23" pizza cutter conversions..good luck with it and will be interesting to follow this thread

 

Why not? You have a mid-glide. I am tossing my 19 POS tire and replacing it with a 17" where one can get some decent rubber. You will not have any problems. I am looking at mine now.

Remember, you have to get 1" longer tubes if you want your bike to remain at the same height. I have done some Fat Bobs and they are 16" fronts and I know for sure the same fork tubes are used on both the fat Bob & Street Bob.

 

Why would you need longer tubes ? The tire size compensates does'nt it ?

Surfor, That 16 on the front looks sweet! Did you do a wideglide conversion? I am sending it to a shop to have it done.I am a decent mechanic but some things are best left for the pro's. Tire will be a 130/90/16 .

Sumpnut, Thanks and Nice close up as well. The fatty up front looks great. Not a big fan of the bigger rims either. still have stock tire on back. want a little more rubber up front. Im hoping to get away with the stock trees. The 130 will be tight. You sure the xbones has a 135? I read on a site it was a 130.

Also i will probably have to get a fat bob fender and fab it up to fit.

any takers on spoke size for this job?

 

Thanks for the info . Im gonna try it out with just the wheel for now. Ill either drop the back and inch or change tubes depending on the outcome.

 

Tire height might be the same. Stock is 100/90/19 and new one is going to be 130/90/16. I think the 130 is width and 90 is height. Please correct me if im wrong.

 

Yea you maybe right there..a 130 on the X Bones.. think with both tire sizes the rolling radius is the same,best check up some tire charts to be sure but as its up front and not rear there's no problem with gearing equations..It's been done as the pics prove and a different front fender is required as you know..think the fender mounting bolts need to be shorter because they protrude and could rub on the tire but thats way down the line lol

 

You are correct. 130 is the width in mm. The sidewall height would be 90 percent of the width or 0.90 x 130 = 117 mm.

Rolling diameter of the stock tire should be 19 + (2 x 3.54") = 26.08"
Proposed tire is 16 + (2 x 4.61") = 25.22"

Not quite an 1" difference in diameter.
