Default Tank panel help

Sorry if this is a re-post, I couldn't find anything in the search. I have a '09 superglide custom, I got it used a couple months back and its perfect except the leather tank panel is curled. I took it off, put leather conditioner on it, flattened it with books and wrapped it around a tube. after a week of conditioning and flattening, it was flat. I put it on my bike, rode to work and that night...all curled up again. any suggestions to fix this thing?

its a little dirty...

Soak it in a bucket of water with a little murphys oil soap overnight or until its good and soaked. then "press it" between two pieces of plywood in a warm place until dry. hit it with some leather dye and boot polish. should be good as new!!

I'm with you. I think the leather looks leaps and bounds better than the chrome. Mine is curled, but not NEARLY as bad as yours is. Mine's minimal ... how much is a new one for HD? Or maybe someone who swapped to chrome would be willing to sell?

crappy cell pics of mine

rcaddell: I have been looking around at them, They seem to start around $50 and go up. I am wondering if I could remove the foam on the back and put the leather over some hard plastic. I live in Phoenix, I have a feeling if I get a new one or fix this one next summer its just going to curl again.
