2006 Street Bob question
#2
2006 was the first year of the Streetbob.
2006 has the 88ci engine while the new ones have the 96ci.
The rear fender is completely different with a new brakelight.
The seat was redesigned. (I like the old one better)
2006 had chorme wheels and the new have black.
New model has integrated risers while the old do not.
There are some other minor differences also but I am drawing a blank.

Thanks, for the response. Most of that doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I haven't really followed this model. I thought 2006 was still the 88", but could have sworn the gut said it had the 96" motor. Guess I'll find out tonight when I look at it, either way I can probably get a pretty good deal on it.

Good to hear, I think I would enjoy it also. Right now I have a 100th Anniversary FXDL that is in perfect condition. It belonged to my dad before he pasted away last year and he never let it see bad weather. I tend to ride in all kinds of weather so I want something I don't have to worry about as much.

Good Info
I own an 06 Street Bob/ K&N Filter Stage 1 with Screaming Eagle Slip-Ons. Beware of an Inner Primary Bearing Issue on all 06 Models. I just bought my 06 and found out the hard way....$400 bones later. Reprogrammed the ECM module and everything seems to be working well...for now. Inner primmary and races were shot at 13,000 miles...don't know how i made it to the shop. Really like the bike. If you go with the 06 it is a first year six speed paired up with the 88 FI system...07 on is the new 96 w/six speed. I'm sure the 96 has some get up and go...but the 88 works quite well with the added air.

I have an 06 SB that I bought on the cheap considering what was included. Of course then I started fixing stuff, changing this and that to make it mine so I am paying the price.
Sending it to the shop this winter for a 95 inch Big Bore Kit using 10.25 to 1 Pistons, Reaper 575 cams, SE Super Tuner, Ported, polished and flow tested heads and I forget what else I have out in the stash. Should wake up the neighbors come spring.

There is also a stator issue you should be aware of. For the 2006 Dyna line HD was kind enough to bolt the rotor (charging system not brake) together with 1/4 bolts instead of welding it. The bolts tend to back out destroying the stator. I would take the VIN to the dealer and they should be able to tell you if thosehad failed and been fixed, provided the work was done at a dealership.
