Cool I hate windshields

I just hate windshields, I don't like they way they take away from the look of the ride, the fact they are for cars, the whole purpose of riding is to get the wind in your face, on the other hand I like the look of them on streetglides. I wouldn’t own one but they look good, been riding 40+ years. Once I put on an aftermarket, of some off brand so I could take the the ol on a 1600 mile cruise. Hated the attachment process, guess I could of left it on, ‘cept I HATE WINDSHIELDS, so off it came. As I have traveled down the path of life I have decided, that once in awhile it’s okay to accept comfort over style (at least for a little while) So I bought (from a member here) a quicksteal windshield, Part #58346-06.So on it it went
Well this is first day impressions of that windshield, the ride in (wearing my bacalva and a skid lid, leather uppers and just my carhart pants) I was thinking what is up with this shizit, I am 5’7” and the top of that new WS is right at eye height so I am seeing that yellow line like I did back in the 70’s(ol Tim Leary would have been jealous of the results) so down the road about 10 miles I stopped and raised it, originally I had it against the bottom triple tree, then I raised to to the bottom of the top tt, That made for a good ride in, I was sold. Then temps warmed up for the ride home about 10 hours later, so no bacalva and I seemed to be getting an air stream right up the nose and the frighting inability to take my eyes off of that damn WINDSHIELD I feel like I am riding in two places at one time………………hmm maybe I will get used to it? …………..or not, then off it will come

Not many out there with python pipes AND windshields. You may be in a league of your own.

I feel your pain. Come winter time I'm gonna cave and put a quick detatch on my SB, whenever it's warm enough it'll be off.

I don't think windshields help with the cold much. At least on any bike I've ridden with windshields, it blocks it from hitting you straight on but it makes it blow from your lap up and therefore makes it blow up my coat and makes me colder.
I only run my windshield when I'm going on a trip just for when it rains.

I had a quick detatch on my old RK and I could definately tell the difference when I rode without it, wind chill would cut like a knife. Don't get me wrong I still got cold just not as bad or as quickly as I did when I rode without it. We're talkn Arkansas VS Wisconsin winters too.

I hated them too until I went on a windy 500 mile ride. Then I went to every bike shop I could find to buy one but could'nt find one. So my next ride came with one, now I wouldn't be without it.

My son doesn't like them either but when we go on the long rides he puts it on. Time and place for it.

I love the wind in my face but rain feels like nails. Much easier riding without one with a backrest though....
