Clutch cable lube

RE: Clutch cable lube
I take the cable out of the clutch perch, cut the corner out of a baggie, stick cable thru hole and rubber band, then put the lube of choice in the baggie and let it ooze down the cable. You can use a variety of lubes, ATF, 3-in-1 oil, or something like Rem Oil. I use Rem Oil.
The above is the wet route. You can also lube it with a graphite lube like Dri-Slide.

Disconnect from the perch, and clamp/tape to something to hold it up in the air; edge of the windshield, broomstick, string from the ceiling, whatever. Do the baggie trick as described above, or make a funnel out of duct tape or alum foil.
Use a quality lube designed for this purpose. The wrong lube won't last, will turn gummy in there, and there's no way to easily clean it out. Every bike shop sells some kind of chain and cable lube. Pick a good one, and get the smallest can they have. With a belt drive, the stuff lasts forever.
Spray a bit on there every few minutes for a while. Want to make sure you have enough to get all the way down to the bottom. Leave it clamped for a while so it will lube all the way to the bottom. Then put it back in the perch and adjust properly.
Do it twice a year and you'll always have a smooth cable.
Don't forget to do the accelerator cables. They are a lot easier. Just take the top cover off and squirt down into the cables. Gravity will take care of the rest.
