To be honest, no I did not install this myself. But I see no reason why you couldn't. I had them put it on when I had rear tire replaced.

When you order the speedo, you have to tell them what mileage you want on it. It is ordered from the factory with the mileage you want.
When I ordered mine, I told them about 500 miles more than what was on the bike at the time I placed the order.
That way, once the part came in the mileage was real close to what the speedo had programmed in.

They told me it would be 7-10 days to get from HD. But I think it actually showed up in about 5 days.

Like "RollaMo" wrote above. When I ordered the speedometer I had to tell them the mileage I wanted it set to (mileage is set at Harley Davidson). Find out how long it will take to receive and estimate what your mileage will be at that time. I estimated then added a extra hundred miles, when I received the gauges I swapped them out when I hit that preset mileage.

I wish they would make that in a 4" for the Street Bob. I want to add a tach but I'm not sure if I'll like a digital gauge like the one from Dakota.

I really like that tach/speedo, and I can't believe the price on it. I thought $499 was standard issue for the nicer HD tachs.
I'm ready to replace my rear tire, too. How much extra labor did the dealer charge you to install the tach? I'm just looking for a baseline when I go in.
