as the wise man says who cares - i bought my bike to ride if i wanted to do mega miles per gallon i would have bought a honda cub!!
fill the tank ride around, fill the tank some more and enjoy the fun
You know you can still fill the tank and ride around and have fun while at the same time taking a minute to do simple math in your head right?
I don't think anyone said they bought their bike solely for the gas mileage. It's just good to know so you know how far you can ride before you have to start pushing it. It can also help detect a problem with the bike if it changes all of a sudden.
Hello I am new to the forum and a 2010 ultra limited with the 103 I am new to Harley but this is my 7th bike. Best bike yet! I bought it for some touring and just love it!! My question is this bike only has 2500 miles on her. But I was getting about 240 miles and filling up with just under 5 gal. So about 45 - 48 mpg. Now these last three tanks I have lost about 50 mile range. I am down to 35 - 36 mpg. I can hear a slight exhaust tone change too. Other than chrome it is still stock. This is also mostly highway riding at about 70 mph. Any ideas as to the sudden change? I hat to loose the range on a touring bike.
Thanks
Jeff
Maybe you've gotten more comfortable with it and are pushing it a little harder??? If that ain't the case, I'd be looking at the plugs to see if they indicate rich fuel mixture. Have your changed brands of gas? I have heard that ethanol blends produce lower MPG? Just a thought?
Winter blend might be out a little early in some parts of the country. I will be riding 250 miles to Duluth, MN at 40+ degrees. Sept and heated gear time!
i avg 45 mpg running 5th gear at 80 ish and if i use 6th gear it goes down to 42 i have a 07 wideglide with stage one and power commander 5 with auto tune ...wierd huh i would have thought the over drive would be better
