Default Super Glide rear tire

What is the biggest rear tire I can put on a 2005 Super Glide? It has a 150 on it right now. Can't I go at least 160, my Dealer says no. Thanks for any info.

I think it depends on the specific tire manufacturer. I have seen FXD's with 160's before. Don't remember the brand of tire though.

Good Luck.

I think your wheel is 3.5 inchs wide and a 150 is going to be all you will find for it I think. Most 160's will require a 4 to 4.5 inch wheel.

A 150 is the widest for a 3" rim (I have one on my Glide), but you should be able to fit a 160 on a 3.5". Check the tyre websites, as they should show that sort of info. You should also see the fitted width of each size of tyre, which can vary from the nominal size. When fitted, for example, my 150 is actually 153mm wide.

On your bike, check the clearance between your tyre and belt guard. That is the space you have available. You need about 1/4" clearance to get in a 160.

it will will take a metzeler marathon 160, but as mentioned, all manuf spec a bit different, the metz 160 might only be a fraction wider than a stock 150
