I have to agree, if you have 1/4 inch of movement something is drastically wrong. Have any close up photos of the unit? Just a suggestion but maybe that would show something obvious to someone here.

looking at the caliper its the left slider bolt. i pulled it out yesterday[10mm 12point socket fyi]everything that the parts fiche shows is in there,bushing-rubber sleeve-it almost looks like its designed to have some clearance between bolt and bushing and float on rubber sleeve- new one on me! oh yeah up and down is prob 1/8 not 1/4 as stated before

Yeah thats what it does. but your only movement should be the flex in that rubber, and that ain't much. Where's the 1/8 inch coming from?

Hey cmonster .. did you find the issue with this.. I have same issue.. no doubt I've done something wrong on reassembling back wheel.. I've done a tyre change.. yeah we spell it tyre in Australia, and I have the same movement in my caliper as you've described, no heat prob as far as I know, as I've not really ridden it, as I was checking my install, I noticed .. this movement.. Have you found the problem ? If so, would be good to find your results. Hey, hope your back pain, is better.. I know first hand.. what that is like .. after a crushed a vertebra (in car wreck)... Ochies....
