Default May be trading for a 2001 FXDXT

I can't believe that just yesterday I said I wouldn't be trading my bike, but...

I'm looking at a deal in which I trade my '09 FLHTC (and several dollars) for an '07 Road King Police and an '01 FXDXT. I've ridden both and like them both.

Can anyone point me to any info on the FXDXT? Any mechanical issues I should be aware of? I know it's an 88 CI, carbed 5 speed. No fairing or bags are included, it has 36000 miles.

My son will likely ride this bike most of the time, but the old man likes doing some blasting too.

Any info is appreciated.

at 36000 miles I would say take a look at the cam chain tensioners and upgrade them
also prob wouldn't be bad to check out the lifters too.
Also check for oil leaks. I would think parts of it are seeping/leaking by now.
But if you tear it apart you might as well make the motor a 95"

FXDX is an awesome handling bike. awesome suspension

No fairing or bags? Sounds more like an FXDX; are the mounts for both still there? Maybe look for crash damage...is the paint origional? Strange that the fairing would be missing...
I sure like my T-Sport; most versatile HD made...

I'm thinking the touring forum is your best bet.

The only real issues with the older ones are the cam tensioners. Which can be switched to gear drive. Of course they have the cam bearing issue when upgrading. The 2001 is still a good bike and doesn't have the massive wheel, inner primary and crank bearing and stator issues like the new ones. And the internal engine parts are still US made. I think you'll find it to be a better bike than the ones made by Sumyunghoe and her crack team of 8 year olds.
