I am planning on taking a short trip at the end of the month and i am looking for some luggage for my 09 street bob. I dont have a sissy bar but i do have a 2 up seat and will not be carrying a passenger on the trip. Any suggestions?
this is how i traveled from school on my old street bob, just get one of the net things, ive seen them at alot of bike shops, and then cram all u can under there, worked for me, good luck
theres another bike where i got the idea from, but also if u go to leatherup.com they have nylon throwover saddle bags for like 55 bucks or something, very cheap
Friend of mine has a bag that she puts on the tank of her V-Rod. It stays in place with magnets. Don't know who makes it though, but it's a pretty cool way to carry stuff. I like my sissy bar and t-bag, see signature, that's all I carried for a four day trip.
+1 on the previous suggestions. IMO, a Street Bob doesn't look right with saddle bags...but with that being said, I might get a pair for a long trip next Spring. For most 5 day or under trips you should be fine with a bungee cargo net with two bags. Pack light and you'll be fine.
On my FXDC i use one of those Kuryakn round bags that sit on top of the Headlite....
It also kinda acts like a fairing keeps a lot of wind off of the chest....
I just got back from a 5-day trip on my '08 Street Bob. I used a pair of Saddleman throw-over bags (around $80 for the smaller ones) and a Nelson-Rigg tank bag with magnets that I can fit over my passenger seat and stick to the fender. Had plenty of room and the Nelson-Rigg bag stayed in place perfectly.
I also use that tank bag a lot around town because it attaches in seconds and comes off just as easy and holds a lot of stuff.
dont know how to get pics on here yet. but if you checkout my profile you'll see how I roll. I live in CO and do lots of backpacking too. So I kill two birds with one stone using my Osprey Kestral 48 litre pack. It holds all the same stuff I use wether Im on the road or the trail! Good luck.
