Default Bolt that goes into shifter peg??

I bought a shifter peg on ebay but it didn't come with the hardware to bolt it into my shift lever.

I have the stock shift lever on there and was told to take it off just use a vice grip, however I need a chrome bolt to get the shifter peg on.

For example this picture here you can see the bolt on the left goign all the way through to the right where you can screw it into the assembly.

Anyone know what size this is, or if there is a specific part # for the chrome bolt?

Go to your local hardware store. Get a grade 5 (not grade 8) bolt of the sorrect diameter and length. A button head will look better.

I think the shifter uses a 5/16" coarse threaded bolt.

Thanks for the input....

The way I described removing the stock shifter peg is that accurate, just twist it off with a vice grip?

I used a washcloth wrapped over the peg and channel lock pliers.......came right off. I bought the extended rail shift lever at Dennis Kirk.......it's 13/4 inch longer than stock and perfect for my banana boat shoes.

I ordered the part at the stealer for $1, 6-10 business days until it comes in... it's buttonhead so it's a special order bolt.
