Default Street Bob Sparto style tail light

Has anyone taken the innards out of the housing? I want to cut the plate tab off but I would want to re-chrome it. I looked at it but it seems as if it's not meant to come apart.

A member named Tweakin is your man for all things rear tail light/fender. That man has changed his rear setup more times than anyone I know. He'll be able to tell you everything.

You can't take it apart, the LED and inards are all one piece. Most the guys who cut the tab off ended up painting it black.

That's pretty lame. I guess you'd be SOL if something happened to the lens.

Not to hijack the thread, but what is the general feeling about the light? I think it looks cool and better then the regular one.

Wires for the turn signals are inside the housing along with the connectors for them.

I like the looks of the light. Not lovin the way the plate is mounted to it. Looks like a mud flap. But when you remove the plate there is a big tab where the plate mounts. If you do a search for Sparto tail lights they have the tab as well. I want to cut the tab off and side mount the plate but I have so little chrome on my bike as it is I don't really want to paint the housing black.
