1200 is high if you ask me, as said 1000 is about right, if you want it to really lope take it to around 800. I had a 05 Yamaha roadstar that idled at about 650 rpm, to bad the EFI Harley want do it.
The correct idle is 950-1050 rpm after the engine is at operating temp. Word of caution the idle will be low while the engine is cold, just use the throttle to maintain the rpm. If you lower the idle to much you could starve the engine of oil pressure and beat up the lower bearings. Also the idle will maintain approx. 13.2 volts to the battery, when you go above 2000 rpm the volts go up to 14.2-14.4 v. Just a little extra info there.

Are you sure the EFI Harley won't idle at 650? Here's one at supposedly 560rpm.
I have been told that it will, but doing so will effect a couple of other areas, such as cause a stumble upon opening the throttle, cause charging issues because of the slow speed and the stator not being designed for it, and the oil pressure will be too low. I figure it can be done, but I am not willing to take the chance.
Thanks for the video.
