Break out the plasma cutter, tig welder and tape measure.

You can buy a set of solid struts to replace your rear shocks cheap on Ebay. Instant hardtail.

solid struts. I have them on my '10 wide glide. slammed the *** end and lowered the forks in the trees an inch and never looked back.

Mine are 10.5" If you know a machinist or welder throw them $20 and call it a day.

what about the engine??? Wouldnt you need to balance the engine like the softail models??

Nope. Balanced engines are used when the engines are solidly mounted to the frame - has nothing to do with making a rigid. Dyna's are rubber mounted engines, as are touring models and since around 05 or so (IIRC) sporties.

You can, it isn't that hard, but may I ask why?

I prefer to have the suspension when I ride and I have put a mile or two on rigids so I'm just curious as to why.
