<”jt1965”>

<”The forward controls requires the entire primary outer & inner including the clutch and compensator be removed to do the install of the 06 and later kit.”>

jt1965 is right I have taken mine off, but when I did it for the shaft taken out, once off I had the primary chromed, noway was I taking that off twice !

itznin, the job wasn’t bad you didn’t get rob, now you have the job done right, no plugs no twist ties : - )))

Hey, now you know what's more funny than a STEALER charging you 4.1 and .9 for all that? It'll take their techs about 7.6 hours to do the work which will mean you will have to leave your bike in their shop over night for a couple of days,.............Damn that would be funny if it were not true!

ORIGINAL: Shovelhead Bob

FWIW, Forward controls are a bit of a PITA, as the primary does have to be removed.....
...unless you leave the original shift lever and bypass that whole primary mess. It only turns in to a PITA at that point if you break a bolt. Don't ask how I know this.

Pulled my dealer paperwork and sure enough they charged me 3 hours labor for the forward controls on my 05.

Then one of you either got a good deal or one of you got screwed. Your 05 doesn't require a primary removal for a by-the-book install.

.9 for the grips is not bad.on my bike had throttle cable loosened to the max i fought to try and get more out of the cable to get the ferrule back in the grip grrrr think i wound up with hr alone with that cable and maybe another 15 mins for the rest of the job

I put forward controls on my 04 lowrider in 2 hours. The hardest part was getting the left mid peg off. Handgrips in 30 min. Put the throttle cable on first, roll it back to full throttle and hold it with your thumb. Lots of slack for the idle cable. BTW I did not remove my middle shift shaft. I just capped it off and decided I would wait until I have to remove the inner primary for whatever reason and remove it then and cap the hole from the rear.

They charged me 3hrs for forwards. It pays to shop around for service too. The dealer where I had mine done charges $20 less per hour than the big Orlando shop.
