Default Power Commander III and 2009 Street Bob

Just bought my 09 Street Bob on Saturday (first bike). Got an awesome deal on the bike as the owner had recently passed (R.I.P) and the only real mod to the bike is a V & H Pro Pipe BP. I figured I would just finish the job and complete the Stage I air. I love the pipe for now, although I may either paint or try to switch to a black 2:1 down the road.

My question is: can I use a Power Commander III from a 2007 Dyna on a 2009 Street Bob?

I've been scouring the internet for a clear answer before I go buy one tomorrow. I found a PCIII on craigslist for $150 and would jump on it if I could be sure it would work. I'd try calling PC support but it's Sunday night and I'm impatient.

Also, anybody have a recommendation for an intake that wouldn't get in the way of my leg with forward controls? I haven't sat on any bikes with aftermarket A/C but I'm 6'1" 270 and could see it presenting a problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey MJ.

I don't know if this will help you, but I swapped out my air cleaner cover for a low profile retro HD cover from the dealership. It required me also getting the S/E Stage 1 kit for it, which doesn't hurt.

Granted, I'm keeping my mid-controls on my SB, but I imagine the same one might be ok for you with forward controls.'

This is the one I got:

You may get better luck on your AF question if you start a new thread with "best AF for leg clearance" in the title. The topic gets discussed often.

$150 is not that great a deal for a PCIII, If you shop around you may be able to find one new for about that price, but why go there, just because they are cheap? What are you looking for? The V&H fuel pack will provide good power for less money. If you want to get the most value and best street ride, look at a more sophisticated tuner, check out the TTS tuning kit for a couple hundred more $$$, just saying you won't be sorry.

Personally, if you have plans to go further with performance mods I would spend the money on a good product now rather than waste money on an FP or PC.

I have a pc and don't really like it. If I had the cash, I'd have a Mastertune installed.

I don't think the PC3 is compatible with your bike as I had to buy a PCV for my 09".

Thanks for the quick responses. Looks like I'll be avoiding the PCIII. Still weighing the other options.
