RE: programmed with slip ons?
I added SE-II slip-ons and did not do the download. The bike runs great and sounds awesome. My dealer told me I'd need the download but one of the techs said I wouldn't unless I installed a high-performance filter.
I checked the plugs after a long ride and didn't find them overly cooked (white). I get a little popping when I roll off the throttle at speed without pulling the clutch. Very little. I have noticed a slight decrease in gas mileage.
My goal was for louder sound for highway safety, not performance. I suspect I'll want the added performance eventually and will have to shell out the $$ for it.
Slip 'em on, give it a whirl and see for yourself.
Good luck!

RE: programmed with slip ons?
Fact:
If you change the air flow in your system, (decrease the backpressure with slip ons will increase the airflow), and do not change the air to fuel mixture to compensate you will run your motor lean.
Fact:
Systems will compensate for the change. The compensation band is a plus and minus band range, 10 or 12%. If you force it to one end to compensate for the slip ons you will have no where to go if it needs more.
Fact:
Running lean can and will force the engine to run hot, burn valves, backfire, hesitate, and more.
Just my 2¢ on the subject.
