Got some new bars and I need to remove the grip on the left side I think it's glued. Anybody got any tricks or no of a good way to get it off without screwing it up?
Unless you want/need to save the old grip, you can take a razor and carefully cut it off the bars. If saving it is important, try spraying some WD-40 down between the grip and the bar after prying the grip up with a small screwedriver. The WD-40 should soften the glue enough to allow removal of the grip.
The hair dryer trick works, or better, if you have a heat gun, use that on the lowest setting.
I am going to need to do this soon so I have been thinking about it, I am going to try taking off the switch housing and sliding a thin strip of metal between the grip and bars
in various spots intell it is loose enough too twist off! what do you think?
I'll tell you tomorrow how it goes.... going to try putting the bars on. Just got back from the HD shop and got me a diamondback braided brake line so I think I'm ready to go........ DANG IT, I forgot the dot 5.... back to HD again tomorrow morning [:@]
Were not talking about the stock grips here, I paid over 50 bucks for THESE GRIPS So I don't want to screw them up I want to reuse them.
So I guess I'll just wd-40 them and twist and turn till I get them off.
