Great looking bike, the Super Glide. I think it may be the best looking naked cruiser Harley makes. Just wish it would have come stock with 2 discs up front, as it is probably the Dyna I would have bought instead of a Fat Bob.

The looks of the Dyna's always grabbed me. My '89 FXRS-SP Low Rider Sport Convertible seemed made for me--it had everything I wanted and was beautiful! It just quite simply had no vices, or so it seems. This was a SPecial edition which came stock with dual-disc front brakes + Q/R w/s & bags. It had the most powerful brakes of any motorcycle I've ever ridden. But when a flatbed truck I was already passing (@55mph) made a sudden left turn, I went down instantly, as soon as I grabbed the front brake. I was simply unable to respond otherwise. However we did not go under the wheels of the truck, but rather rode it out mostly on top of the skidding bike. Now, I'm not blaming the brakes--I just wasn't good enough--my reactions were what they were in my panicked desperation to keep from being run over!
Another member transferred the entire front-end off a VROD onto his Super Glide, gaining the dual-discs by keeping the VROD wheel and all. A conversion of any kind seems it would be expensive but I must admit that, even riding solo, the brakes on my '09 FXDC are only just barely adequate IMHO, rather noticeable during emergency stops. But this is coming from a bike which was over-braked, if anything. Perhaps dual-discs will be added to new Super Glide models, eventually, or offered as a retrofit package. The newer wide-forked setups seem to easily lend themselves to such an upgrade. This would be worthy of a new thread.
